WORK EXPERIENCE

Work Experiance: Project

WOODS HOLE OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTION (WHOI)

In the summer of 2015 I took a job working in the mechanical services facility at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. For three months I worked as an assistant machinist in the machine shop. I gained experience with both manual and CNC mills and lathes, as well as a variety of other shop equipment. I also received professional experience in CAD design and drafting. After training for the first month, I began completing work orders on my own and taking on personal projects.

My time at WHOI taught me a lot about the realities of engineering and fabrication outside of the classroom. I gained valuable interpersonal and technical skills that I could not have learned in a school setting.

CORNER CYCLE CAPE COD

From 2010 to 2014 I worked during the summer at my local bike shop in Falmouth, Massachusetts. I started as an entry level rental shop employee and left as the rental shop manager. I also spent time in both the repairs and sales sides of the business. The customer service, sales, and mechanical experience I received while at Corner Cycle has proven invaluable to me. Corner Cycle was my first job, and I still carry the lessons I learned there with me today.
